The Distribution of NOS-positive Neurons in Nucleus Medial Septum(MS) and Nucleus Diagonal Band of Rat
Medial septum ( MS ) is an important nucleus in basal forebrain. There is a complicated nerve fibers relation between MS and peripheral structure.
Results Many fluorescent labeled cells were found in the ipsilateral medial septum ( MS ), the vertical limb of the diagonal band ( vDB ) and the horizontal limb of the diagonal band ( hDB ), some of which were nestin immunoreactive.
In the medial septum ( MS ), the horizontal and vertical limbs of the diagonal band of Broca ( hDB, vDB ), more than 92 % of NOS neurons displayed ChAT-IR, while such double labelled neurons consisted only about 42 % of the cholinergic neurons.
Objective : To explore the changes of nitric oxide synthase ( NOS ) - positive neurons in medial septum ( MS ) after transecting adult rat fimbria-fornix projection fibers.
