The North American Free Trade Agreement ( NAFTA ) is an example of a preferential trading arrangement.
Under the North American Free Trade Agreement ( Nafta ) and the government procurement agreement ( GPA ) of the World Trade Organisation, US government contracts are not allowed to discriminate against suppliers or parts from GPA signatories or from Canada or Mexico.
It is the largest pact of its kind for the United States since the1994 North American Free Trade Agreement ( NAFTA ).
Washington has endorsed such powers in previous trade deals such as the North American Free Trade Agreement ( NAFTA ), but conditions in the TPP could grant multinational more powers to challenge a wider range of laws.
